AMD ha comunicado la entrega a sus socios fabricantes, de un nuevo chip APU Z-60 destinado especificamente al sector de la tableta electrónica para modelos que serán comercializados a finales de año con Windows 8.
La APU Z-60 es un desarrollo conocido como Hondo en formato APU (unidad de procesamiento acelerado), con dos núcleos de procesamiento nativo Bobcat de 64 bits a 1 GHz.
Su componente estrella es una gráfica integrada Radeon HD 6250 con 80 núcleos gráficos, soporte para librerías multimedia DirectX 11 y resoluciones Full HD 1080p. Un consumo TDP de 4,5 vatios es otro de sus puntos fuertes para una autonomía de hasta diez horas.
Según AMD, la APU Z-60 batirá sobradamente en rendimiento gráfico a los Atom Clover Trail de Intel recientemente presentados y que serán sus máximos competidores con arquitectura x86.
Las tabletas electrónicas con la APU Z-60 ‘Hondo’ estarán en el mercado a finales de año, tras el lanzamiento de Windows 8 y prometen ser nuevos animadores para un sector tan atractivo como el de tabletas electrónicas.
